Agents sometimes make a mistake by relying upon verbal authorization in a listing or sale. Big, big mistake. The Department of Real Estate demands that authorization to quote prices for a property must be in writing from the seller and you could lose your license by not getting written authorization. So if the seller tells you to reduce the price in the MLS without giving you written authority of the price reduction, dont do it. Tell the seller, “the law requires written authority”. By advertising a property for sale for a specific price without written authority puts you and this company at jeopardy. Thus, real estate is not a handshake business.
