154. READ CONTRACTS BEFORE SIGNING

Sellers and buyers are signing contracts without reading the details. As an agent, you should hammer home to your client the necessity to read the contract before signing. Of special importance is the hand written changes made to the boiler- plate contract. Because a contract is preprinted and because a particular contract is widely used throughout the industry, the tendency is not to read it. You and your client should read it carefully for how the details apply to your particular sale. Read before you weep later.
